Jackie and her then husband Keith took on the management of a old wine bar at 34-36 Beaumont Street, Hamilton, NSW in 1974 and transformed it into a glamorous venue for straights and gays. They successfully extended the hours of its liquor licence until midnight and it is often remembered as the "wine bar in Hamilton" people went to when the Star Hotel closed at 10pm. Although the wine bar closed in 1975, it later became a series of gay venues in the 1980s - Tess's and Pete's and the Centurion.
