Andrew and Bill Whitbread-Brown, aka Mr and Mrs White Trash, became local identities in Newcastle in the '90s thanks to their tireless LGBTIQ and HIV/AIDS activism; their infamous cottage in Carrington called Trashlands, which became a defacto community drop-in centre; the historic NIB Health insurance case in which they achieved recognition of their family, and their ongoing commitment to marriage equality.
